There is only one ingredient, CHEESE! I’ve used aged Asiago cheese or Stagionato. Stagionato. Is produced only in the Asiago Plains of North Eastern Italy. And aged for over 18 months. This cheese is so full of Umami flavor it will make your mouth water the second you open the package. I’ve done a fantastic post on Double Asiago Cheese Churros for a fun way to also serve this tasty cheese. Making Asiago Cheese Bowls is a no brainer for me, as I love this cheese so much. Of course, you could substitute Parmesan in the recipe if you want.

Sometimes these delicious Asiago cheese bowls are called Frico Bowls and originate from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of Italy. Traditionally Parmesan cheese is used to make Frico cups. But Asiago especially aged Asiago Stagionato is fabulous.

Instructions
  1. To make the bowls
  2. Preheat the oven to 375°
  3. Have a clean work surface ready with a form to make the bowls. The form can be an inverted bowl or anything that is flat bottomed cone shaped. Make sure it can take some heat as the cheese disks will be hot when placed over the form.
  4. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or use a Silpat.
  5. Spread an even layer of the grated cheese in an 8-inch circle.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes and check to see if the cheese has completely melted and it is golden, and the edges are beginning to brown. Be careful not to get the cheese too brown all over as the bowl will be burnt.
  7. If the cheese needs a minute or two more, keep a close eye on it until you get the desired golden brown disk.
  8. Immediately, take the melted cheese out of the oven, let cool for a few seconds to firm up, and carefully with a spatula lift the cheese disk onto the ready bowl form. Let the disk drape over the form to form a bowl.

  9. Let cool completely before using/
