Fun with Churros Make for a Savory Doughnut that Crosses Cultures

Double Asiago Churros in platter

This is a bit of a last minute post,

I wrote this excellent post on Double Asiago Cheese Churros. But I was given the cheeses to do the recipe, and they still need to approve the recipe. So I apologize that I can’t post it just yet.

It is worth the wait, I promise They are just taking their time. It Churros are actually sort of a doughnut, so they are part of my doughnut month experiment.

This is a really great new bar food recipe that I would love to share.

Check back soon for the actual recipe hopefully it will be approved soon.

IN the meantime, Churros are the Spanish version of a doughnut. Kind of like a cruller in a long log form. There is a bit of a story about how an English department store decided to serve cheese churros and that Spain started a campaign to stop them as a savory churro is sacrilegious to them! If you have never had a churro, you are missing out on one of the best contributions to sweet snacks ever. I can’t go to Disneyland without having at least one or two, ok maybe three. Churros are a choux dough that is piped into hot oil and cooked until crispy and golden brown and then coated in cinnamon sugar. They are very addictive and wonderful.
