The Fig Old Fashioned

The Fig Old Fashioned cocktail has been around for a while. But it has taken me until now to get on the bandwagon. I had even bought the caramelized fig syrup months ago to make some in the fall and never got around to making one until now. Man, oh, man, was I wrong to wait for long. This may possibly be my favorite old fashioned ever! The caramelized fig syrup adds depth to this delicious cocktail without overpowering it. It is rich and comforting but not too heavy. These could be dangerous!

You could, of course, make your own syrup, and there are several recipes out there. But after watching a bunch of YouTube and TikTok, I kept seeing this caramelized fig syrup from Liber & Co. that everyone was using. It is a bit pricey. However, you only need a ΒΌ oz, so it will go a long way. And this syrup really makes this cocktail sing. It is like a winter’s hug, making you feel all warm and cozy with each sip.

The Fig Old Fashioned

There are so many variations of an old fashioned out there by many fantastic bartenders. I have even posted one here on my blog. But this is the ticket for the winter months when you want something more decadent and tasty. This is a great cocktail to serve to your friends, too. An old fashioned is very easy and quick to make. Traditionally, you need a cocktail pitcher to make an old fashioned. But you can use any taller vessel, such as a glass measuring cup, that will work if you haven’t gotten one yet. Liber & Co’s Caramelized Fig Syrup can be found on Amazon or even better liquor shops. They have a bunch of different yummy flavors too.

The Fig Old Fashioned

Ok, that is all for this week. I plan on making several batches of the Fig Old Fashioned on these cold winter’s nights. I hope you are all staying well and healthy out there. Please think of others in your choices. We all need to get through these crazy times together. Until next time!
