Butter and flour a 9-inch springform pan or use flour baking spray. (use Baker’s Joy, pam or oil if dairy-free)

Wash the oranges and simmer them, unpeeled, in water to cover for 2 hours.

Cool the oranges and then cut them open and into quarters. Remove any seeds, if any.

Heat oven to 375°

Puree the oranges, including the peel, in a food processor until very smooth.

Beat the eggs in a food processor or large bowl.

Add the ground almonds, sugar, baking powder, and the orange puree. Mix thoroughly.

Pour into the buttered and floured 9-inch springform pan.

Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool in the pan completely before turning out or removing.

Sprinkle with some powdered sugar and some sliced almonds if desired
