Pizza Sauce

Makes 3 cups sauce, enough for 4-5 12 inch pizzas

Ingredients

  • 2 large cloves of garlic, peeled
  • 1 28 oz can of good Italian San Marzano peeled tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the garlic cloves in the bottom of a blender, followed by the remaining ingredients, or you can use a food processor, being careful not to fill above the liquid line.
  2. Blend until no chunks remain, about 30-45 seconds. Try not to over-process, as it will blend in the seeds imparting a more bitter taste.

Recipe Notes

I like to let it sit for an hour to help the spices bloom in the sauce.
