1cup8 oz orange liqueur, triple sec or Cointreau
1cupfresh lime juice
Instructions
For the syrup (about ½ cup syrup)
Combine the blackberries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan.
Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce to a simmer and let cook for 5-10 minutes until the fruit has thoroughly cooked.
Press the mixture through a fine mesh strainer and cool.
The syrup can be stored in the fridge for up to 6 weeks.
For the margaritas
Fill a cocktail pitcher with ice for the individual cocktail or a large pitcher if making the full recipe.
Combine tequila, blackberry syrup, orange liqueur, and lime juice in a cocktail pitcher or more giant pitcher for a full pitcher amount.
Stir until very cold.
And pour it into a glass filled with more ice. I like a single old-fashioned glass for this cocktail.
Garnish with fresh blackberries and lime slices.
Recipe Notes
For a fun decorative touch, you can salt or sugar the rims of the glasses by running a lime wedge around the edge of each glass and dipping the wet rim into a plate filled with large salt crystals or sugar.
